About Muddy Boots

'Muddy Boots' was created in May 2009 to provide a range of business assistance services to small, rural enterprises. Since starting out, the client base has grown quickly, mainly through word of mouth. Catherine currently works alone on the business, but perhaps in the near future will need to take on assistance herself, to meet the needs of her clients.

Catherine was born in the rural Staffordshire Moorlands, on the edge of the Peak District. From a farming background, she went on to study business, tourism and marketing. She attended Harper Adams University College for two years, going on to complete her degree at Bath Spa University and gain a 1st Class Honours in Tourism and Business Management, having specialised in Marketing. Catherine has also held professional roles within Von Essen Luxury Hotels, Business Link, Event Management in Vienna and Women in Rural Enterprise (WiRE) to name just a few.

During her final year at university she conducted research into rural enterprise, specifically concentrating on local food and drink. Amazed at what small, rural businesses were producing it seemed a shame that these artisans were so difficult to find unless you were looking specifically for them.

It appears that many small businesses are so busy with the day to day operations; promoting themselves is something that can take a back seat. Not only that, such services are often priced way above what these businesses can afford. After much talking and networking with rural entrepreneurs and small businesses - the idea for 'Muddy Boots' was born. A professional, affordable service offered to assist, promote and allow small businesses to grow.

'Muddy Boots' is now pleased to offer marketing, promotional and event based support to small businesses, with a practical hands on approach that delivers results. Catherine is also hoping to start a portfolio of events with a focus on showcasing fantastic locally produced products. Sign up to the newsletter so you don't miss out!

When not 'in Muddy Boots', Catherine enjoys the countryside, meeting new people and travel. Travel is probably her biggest love and after living out in Italy, she is a self-confessed 'dolce vita' addict, loving the food, the people and the language. During her time in Italy she was inspired by how proud the Italians are of what they produce, locally and within their specific regions…..and she would like to see that same passion here at home!

In her spare time you will often find her searching out local unique products from food and drink, to crafts. This search even took her to the amazing Salone del Gusto in Turin, Italy to see the international Slow Food exhibition in 2008.
